We had a beautiful start of the day having our breakfast at the scenic beach and watching the sun coming up right next to our camping Port de la Vall. We got there yesterday quite late and it turned out that the closest supermarket is in 2.5 kms from the camping. We started our day feeling very refreshed and energized after having a nice rest at the camping Sant Miquel in Colera, Spain. We had a plan to make 15 kms to the town Selva de Mar further down the coast and hoped that the relief and the weather will work in our favor. When we were leaving Colera for the first time during this hike we felt the piece of our heart was left in this place. Great Mediterranean Coast Hike in Costa Brava, Spain | Day 4 – Cerbère, Portbou, Colera
The night was extremely windy with the wind fiercely blowing up our tent so it was quite disturbing to our sleep. The reason for that most probably was the location of the Camping Municipal de Cerbere where we stayed. It is situated right at the edge of the cliff where nothing can block the wind from any side. But we tried hard to sleep as much as we could cause the long day was expecting us. After having a really nice rest the day before in the camping La Pine we woke up to the new day all ready to hit the trail again. We had a really quiet night here listening to nightingales and we liked the camping overall. Great Mediterranean Coast Hike – Day 2 | Anse de Paulilles, Banyuls-sur-Mer
After an exhausting first day we slept very well and we woke up at a sunrise to an incredibly beautiful scenery of the little bay, swaying yacht and calm sea waters. The atmosphere was very peaceful. And in these moments you realize that nothing can compare with the wild camping spots, they are always special and memorable. That day we took it slow and with no hurry we had the substantial breakfast (luckily we had the leftover veggies from yesterday), got everything packed and finally started walking. Great Mediterranean Coast Hike – Day 1 | Argelès-sur-Mer, Collioure, Port-Vendres
It was our first major hike that we ever did, we ended up doing 80+ km and it took us 7 days to accomplish. We chose to go backpacking, carrying our tent, and stay in the camping sites on the way. This hike is great to do in spring(May-June) or autumn(September-October), as the heat in summer can be pretty extreme. We enjoyed so much doing it in the late May-beginnings of June with all the blossom and smells around along with favorable weather conditions that we would highly recommend it to everyone.
