Hiking with the Donkey | Day 6 of Camino del Norte from Zumaia to Deba
The night was quiet and very warm that was a second time us experiencing of how warm it can be in the forest at night. All we heard was an owl and several birds. Everything was quite wet from the rain yesterday and extremely humid so the tent was twice as heavy cause it soaked up all that wetness. We had a real quick breakfast with a stunning view cause we knew that we had to do our norm for today and that was up to 20 km again. And somewhere on the way we had to find some gas cause otherwise we wouldn’t be able to cook and for…

Amazing Hiking in Andorra |Border crossing from Porta, France to Pas de la Casa, Andorra
In this post we want to share with you our one day hike from Porta, France to the village Pas de la Casa in Andorra. We really been wanting to explore Andorra for a while and finally it was the time to do it. We started on the beautiful sunny August day in Porta and started to walk uphill following the river Campcardos. Right form the start the trail was going alongside the GR route for some time and the marking has been great. Throughout the day the trail had no too steep uphills but rather constant gentle uphill and just towards the end there was quite a steep rocky…

Challenging hike to the Peak Carlit in Pyrenees-Orientales, France | Bouillouses Natural Site
It was the second day of our 2 day hike to the Peak Carlit. That day we hiked 18 kms through the beautiful lakes at the Bouillouses Natural Site and ascended to the Pic Carlit (2921m). That night we slept really well, it was very quiet and calm with no people around us and the temperature was very comfortable, not too cold but very humid. So we got ready quickly, ate our breakfast and started our 18kms hike for the day. We wanted to leave our backpacks somewhere in the forest so that we can hike as lightweight as possible. We had a very good previous experience with Puigmal when…

Eyne valley hike in Pyrenees, France | Animal and flower paradise
It was Day 1 of our Eyne Valley to Vall de Nuria hike where we cross from France to Spain through the Pyrenees mountains. Eyne valley is known for its exceptional variety of flora and fauna in every time of the year and we were very excited to discover what it keeps for us in the spring time. At the start of the day we had to hitchhike to get to the village of Eyne and we were lucky that a lovely couple picked us up and brought us right at the place. Eyne was a nice little mountain village with lots of water sources and skiing resort higher in…

Start of the Camino de Santiago and Getting to the Starting Point | From Pyrenees to Bayonne, France
We are starting the sacred way of Camino de Santiago! We chose to walk the Northern Way or Camino del Norte just because we have never been at the oceancoast and wanted to really feel how it’s like to be close to ocean. And secondly, this way is known to be less saturated but yet very beautiful alternative to the most popular French Way and we want to show you what it’s got and whether it is worth walking. The official distance it covers is 856 kms starting from Irun, but we started our hike at the French city Bayonne, so for us it would be 35 km or so…

First stormy and rainy day getting to Zarautz | Day 5 of Camino del Norte
On the 5th day we woke up in the camping after a good sleep, but we got up late because of the hard previous day and because yesterday night the people were quite noisy. This camping was the most crowded that we’ve been on this way so far. And we had no electricity included in the price so we had to charge all of our gear in the shower room staying there like for an hour or so. In the morning after we had our breakfast and were ready to go the rain started so we had to wait for it to calm down. We were stuck in the camping…

Breathtaking oceancoast hiking | Day 4 of Camino del Norte from Irún to San Sebastián
The day started with a stunning location we were camping in. The sky was covered in clouds but it was painted in a beautiful colors of sunrise. Yesterday we fall asleep by the sound of the ocean and monotone songs of zucades. That was very calming. We slept very well, it was a very quiet night, you can even say hot because there was no wind. The day promised to be cloudy and cooler than the rest of the days which we were glad to see cause walking in the sun gets quite tiring. So we had our breakfast and left to search for the official Camino route that was…

First meeting with the ocean and getting the pilgrim credentials in Irún | Day 3 of Camino del Norte
That day started on another beautiful sunny and warm morning on the coast. When we started walking the first thing we saw was the spectacular beach with the rocks in the water that in the morning light looked even greater. The waves were crushing into the shore creating lots of foam and it was truly mesmerizing. We were learning more and more about ocean and getting to know it better and better. We haven’t seen such kind of waves before and now we were definitely realizing that it was something bigger and stronger than a sea. There were lots of surfers enjoying this kind of weather. We walked into the…

Garden of Eden and Magical Castle | Day 2 of Camino del Norte
It was the first complete Day of our Camino when we did around 17 kms and walked through the village Saint Jean de Luz, Ciboure and Sokoa and got to the outskirts of the French border city Hendaye. This day we already felt better and more energized not in our best physical state but much better than yesterday. There’s also the fact of adjustment to the walking routine when your body needs time to get into the rhythm, normally it takes several days for us. So we woke up fresh and ready to hit the trail. The whole day the trail was quite easy partly on the pavement partly on…
